Billie Waters (1896-1979) studied art at Heatherly's, Chelsea School of Art, and the Grosvenor School of Modern Art. She later studied under Harold Harvey and Ernest Proctor in Newlyn. She experimented with different media and styles, her work ranging from the representational, through the decorative, to the abstract, and was executed in oil, watercolour, tempera and gouache. Much of her work, whether decorative or representational, concerned natural subjects: birds, animals and plants. She exhibited her work regularly, at the Royal Academy, the N.E.A.C., the Society of Women Artists, and several of the London Galleries. (*L.A.)
